Equipped with a Masters of Applied Arts in Design from Emily Carr University in Vancouver, Canada, my practice is rooted in ‘Design for Social Impact’, both in the commercial and non-profit sectors. I naturally gravitate towards storytelling, and tend to draw a narrative thread through my work, be it illustration, photography or graphic design.
Between 2011 and 2016 I studied and worked in Vancouver, designing a variety of information and marketing material for clients such as the City of Vancouver, University of British Columbia, the Ontario Energy Board (in collaboration with Jay Wall), and the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
During a brief hiatus in Karachi, Pakistan between April 2016 and December 2017,
I worked for Xpert Services, Pvt. Ltd., where I led the small but dynamic Creative Department dedicated to Pakistan Herald Publications (Dawn Media Group) Pvt. Ltd. — the printers and publishers of the Dawn Newspaper, the oldest and largest circulated English — language daily newspaper in Pakistan. In this capacity I was primarily responsible for the editorial design of several publications including the monthly Herald magazine, and the in-paper weeklies, EOS and ICON. I was also responsible for the other design needs of the Group’s various ventures.
I also continued to work remotely (until June 2016) as a part-time Communications Coordinator for Arts Health Network Canada, a non-profit organization whose mission is to increase public awareness and appreciation of the contributions of arts-based initiatives to individual and community health, as well as to Canada’s public health care system.
Now back in Canada, I am looking for the right opportunity to apply my skill set in an organization that values design excellence, while championing positive social impact.
An impact that, I hope, resonates over time.
