is a Vancouver-based designer with a passion for community-building and storytelling. During her Masters of Applied Arts in Design at Emily Carr University, she researched how a sense of community may be built in culturally-diverse, urban neighbourhoods using the principles of narrative empathy and thing theory, while drawing on her training in communication design & transformation design. Zara has had over 10 years of experience working with South Asian communities - particularly the Zoroastrian community - as an arts programmer & facilitator. She has experience in event co-ordination & management, with a particular focus in designing arts & craft based events for children.
Having previously worked in advertising, Zara was a Creative Manager for Garnier, Sanofi-aventis and Hewlett Packard (HP) with the Publicis Groupe, prior to which she was a copywriter for several local & international brands. A natural storyteller, she draws a narrative thread through her work, be it illustration, copywriting, photography or brand identity design.
